CHATHAM, Ill. (AP) — A prosecutor says a central Illinois police officer who shot a knife-wielding man four times when the man charged at him won’t face charges in the shooting. Sangamon County state’s attorney Dan Wright said Monday that Chatham Officer Adam Hahn was justified in using force likely to cause death or great bodily harm “under the totality of the circumstances reflected” by an Illinois State Police investigation. Hahn shot 30-year-old Gregory Small on March 7 after Small ignored the officer’s commands to drop the knife and then charged him. Small was later released from a hospital. He faces an aggravated assault charge.
