CARBONDALE (WSIL) — Illinois’ top doctor is now officially a Saluki. Dr. Ngozi Ezike joined almost 2,000 Southern Illinois University students getting their degrees this weekend.
Dr. Ezike is the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. She received her honorary Doctor of Community Health Degree. Dr. Ezike says she’s delighted to share the day with SIU’s 2020 graduates, and says it gives her a chance to speak on a subject she prefers.
“I am absolutely honored to be one of the newest citizens of Saluki Nation,” said Ezike. “You have indeed given me a blessing that I’ll never forget and that in fact I never ever could have even dreamed of.”
Dr. Ezike thanked the Department of Public Health’s continued efforts in making events like Saturday’s graduation safe.
