BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) – Bloomington Police say a Peoria man they arrested over the weekend was loaded with ammunition.
Police said they arrested Geovani Gonzalez about 2:35 a.m. Sunday on Bloomington’s east side.
Officers said Gonzalez, 20, was the driver of a car stopped for a traffic violation near South Hershey and Ridge Roads. Police said they saw live ammunition in the vehicle. In all, police said Gonzalez had 133 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, along with a handgun, about an ounce of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Police said the handgun had a defaced serial number.
Charges against Gonzales include armed violence, various drug offenses, and not having a firearm owners identification card.
Gonzalez remained in the McLean County Jail early Tuesday morning. He has to post $10,000 cash to be released on bond.
