PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) — Authorities negotiated with a suspect in a domestic situation for about one hour Thursday morning before an arrest was made.
The Peoria Heights Police Department was called to the 3000 block of Faber at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday on a call that a suspect was armed and had been “using numerous drugs” and was barricaded in the basement of his residence.
Matthew Dempsey, 42, of Peoria Heights was taken into custody after negotiations, according to the PHPD.
The suspect was arrested on charges of domestic battery, aggravated assault and he had two active felony warrants in Peoria and Woodford counties.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department assisted the PHPD in the incident.
